Bromsgrove Paedophile Jailed for 28 Years Over Horrific Child Sex Abuse
A Bromsgrove man has been slammed with a 28-year prison sentence, with a minimum of 18 years, after being convicted on 57 counts of historic child sexual abuse.
Gary Bennett, 61, of Shenstone Close, Bromsgrove, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday 8 May.
Abuse Spanned Nearly a Decade Across Multiple Locations
Bennett’s vile abuse took place over nine years from 1995 to 2004. His victims were seven children and teenagers — six boys and one girl — from across Leominster, Bridgnorth, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Habberley, and even London.
The offences included rape, attempted rape, buggery, and indecency with a child.
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery After Long Investigation
The investigation launched in May 2018 after the first reports came forward.
Inspector Julie Taylor, who led the case, called the abuse “absolutely sickening” and said it will affect the victims for life.
She praised the victims’ “immense courage” for speaking out and praised their patience and dignity throughout the lengthy trials.
“Despite delays, they remained determined to see justice done,” she added.
Inspector Urges More Victims to Speak Up
Inspector Taylor urged anyone suffering sexual assault, recent or historic, to get in touch with the police.
“Your case will be taken seriously and you will be listened to,” she assured.
