Paedophile Caught Trying to Snatch 8-Year-Old Girls Outside Bradford Asda
William Harrison, 63, from Bradford, has been jailed for four years after attempting to lure two young girls into his car in Shipley. The shocking incident unfolded in September 2022, leaving the local community rattled.
The Shocking Offences
Harrison pleaded guilty to two grave charges:
- Taking a Child to Remove Them from Lawful Custody: Harrison approached two eight-year-old girls inside an Asda supermarket, offering sweets to entice them. CCTV footage captured him at the checkout before he followed the girls back to his car.
- Causing/Inciting a Girl Under 13 to Engage in Sexual Activity: Alarmingly, Harrison showed the girls an explicit image on his phone and tried to bribe them with money to get into his vehicle.
Community Heroism and Swift Police Action
Thankfully, the quick thinking of the girls and prompt police intervention stopped this nightmare from escalating. The bravery of the children in reporting the incident helped bring Harrison to justice without further trauma.
Detective Praises Victims and Warns of Danger
Acting Detective Inspector Tom Swift of Bradford District’s Safeguarding Team said: “This was truly every parent’s worst nightmare. Harrison is a danger to children.” He hailed the victims for their courage and noted Harrison’s guilty plea spared them from reliving the ordeal.
Harrison was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to four years behind bars, serving as a stark warning to predators lurking in our communities.
