Driver Jailed for Tragic Wolverhampton Hit-and-Run Death
A man has been locked up for causing death by dangerous driving in a fatal Wolverhampton crash last year. Ryan Griffiths, 29, was hit by a dark Volkswagen Golf on Burleigh Road at around 9pm on 21 August 2024. The driver fled the scene, leaving Ryan critically injured.
Victim Dies After Hit-and-Run Horror
Ryan was rushed to hospital but sadly died two days later from his injuries. Police launched an immediate investigation. Their enquiries quickly pointed to Aden Wright, 27, the registered keeper of the Golf, as the culprit behind the wheel.
Manhunt and Arrest Following Crash
Forensic tests recovered from the car tied Wright to the crime. A swift manhunt tracked him down within a week, and he was arrested. Despite the mounting evidence, Wright insisted someone else was driving during the crash.
Fourteen Years Jail and Driving Ban for Killer
Originally charged with murder, Wright’s charge was reduced to death by dangerous driving by the Crown Prosecution Service. After a trial at Birmingham Crown Court in October, Wright was found guilty. On 4 December, he was slammed with a 14-year prison sentence and a driving ban.
