Husband Jailed for Life Over Wife’s Brutal Murder in Plasmarl
A 36-year-old man has been locked up for life, with a minimum of 20 years and 10 months behind bars, after murdering his wife at their home in Plasmarl last year.
Fatal Attack in Early Hours
On the morning of Saturday, 22nd October 2022, just before 6am, South Wales Police got a chilling 999 call from Daniel White. He confessed to strangling and stabbing his wife to death at their Idris Terrace home.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell said: “Despite the heartbreak Angie’s family has endured, they have shown incredible strength waiting for justice. While nothing brings Angie back, we hope this sentence helps them start to heal.”
Powell also praised the brave witnesses who came forward, saying: “Their courage was vital in building a watertight case against White.”
South Wales Police Tackle Violence Against Women
South Wales Police reaffirmed their commitment to combating violence against women and girls. They stressed that anyone can be a victim and reassured the public that all reports of violence will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
Family Pays Emotional Tribute to Angie White
Angie’s family remembered her as a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and auntie who was full of life and kindness. At the time of her death, Angie was close to finishing a Humanities degree, aimed at helping others.
“Nothing can bring our beloved Angie back. We shall miss that silly giggle forever.”
“We thank family, friends, the public and South Wales Police for their support during this unbearable time.”
“Daniel White admitted guilt but continued manipulative behaviour, delaying justice with missed court appearances and claims of extenuating circumstances. Even at sentencing, he absented himself, showing cowardice by avoiding facing the consequences.”
“We welcome a full review into the authorities’ monitoring of Daniel White to see if this murder could have been prevented. Answers are needed about how such a dangerous man got released and was able to harm Angie.”
