Man Jailed for 9 Years Over Slough Stabbing Death

After a thorough probe by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, 18-year-old Jack Patterson from Slough has been sentenced to nine years behind bars for the manslaughter of 19-year-old Temur Qureshi. The tragic stabbing happened on Hampden Road, Slough, last September 30.

Guilty Plea and Knife Possession Conviction

Patterson pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Reading Crown Court on April 2. He was also found guilty of possessing a bladed article during a trial on April 15, but was cleared of murder charges by the jury.

Victim’s Heartfelt Call Against Knife Crime

Temur Qureshi tragically died at the scene despite efforts by South Central Ambulance Service. The post-mortem confirmed he died from a stab wound to the left lung and haemorrhage.

Temur wasn’t just a victim; he was also an advocate. After a friend fell to knife crime, Temur wrote passionately about the epidemic of knife violence gripping the UK, urging everyone to recognise its devastating impact.

“Imagine walking home from school, hearing a commotion, then seeing someone pull a knife. Your heart races. This is reality for too many. We must talk about the seriousness of knife crime violence and act,” Temur wrote.

Police and Community Unite Against Knife Violence

Detective Inspector Alice Broad expressed condolences to Temur’s family, praising their dignity during the investigation. She highlighted the far-reaching tragedy of knife crime ripping through communities.

Supt. Helen Kenny from Slough’s local policing reaffirmed the police commitment to tackling knife crime. She vowed continued collaboration with partners to root out violence and bring offenders to justice. “If you carry or use weapons in Slough, expect swift arrest and imprisonment,” she warned.

Knife Crime at a 76-Year High

The number of knife-related deaths in England and Wales hit the highest in 76 years during 2021/22. Temur’s plea and the police crackdown underline the urgent need to stamp out this violence and protect families from avoidable tragedy.
