Beibit Baimolda locked up for life over brutal Walthamstow murder
Chilling Stabbing Shakes Chingford Neighbourhood
Beibit Baimolda, 34, with no fixed address, has been sentenced to life in prison for the savage killing of 42-year-old Oleg Sloboda in Walthamstow last year. The Inner London Crown Court handed down the sentence on 20 November, ruling Baimolda must serve at least 18 years behind bars.
The attack happened on 6 May 2024 at a property on Cranston Gardens, Chingford. Police were called at about 9pm after reports of a disturbance. Officers found Oleg lying in a bedroom, riddled with stab wounds. Despite frantic attempts by cops and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A knife was recovered nearby. The post-mortem revealed Oleg suffered 16 slash and stab wounds to his face and torso – a brutal and merciless assault.
Forensics Tear Apart Killer’s Self-Defence Claim
Leading investigator Detective Inspector Luke Hampton said:
“Oleg leaves behind his son, sister and mother – our thoughts remain with them as they come to terms with their loss. This was a brutal and senseless attack on a man in his own home. Yesterday’s sentence reflects the gravity of Baimolda’s actions and the devastating impact they have had. We hope this brings some justice for Oleg’s family.”
Baimolda stuck to his story of self-defence but refused to testify at trial. However, forensic experts used blood pattern analysis and crime scene examination to demolish his claims. Evidence proved the attack happened right where Oleg was found, with no signs of a struggle supporting Baimolda’s version.
On 10 October, a jury unanimously found Baimolda guilty of murder.
Rapid Arrest and Sentence After Shocking Killing
Judge Kelleher commended the first officers on scene for their quick reaction and efforts to save Oleg.
Baimolda was arrested at the property on the night of the murder and charged two days later. Police revealed that the victim and killer had spent the day socialising at the same house and later visited a local pub, making the brutal stabbing all the more tragic.
