Terrifying Knife Attack at Bognor Regis Station
A shocking, unprovoked stabbing has left a community reeling at Bognor Regis railway station. Jason McDonagh, 22, homeless and armed with two knives, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and carrying blades in a chilling courtroom confession on 2 January at Portsmouth Crown Court.
Brutal Slash in Busy Forecourt
The violent assault erupted just after a heated confrontation at a friend’s flat on 25 November 2025. McDonagh wildly chased his victim into the bustling station forecourt, slashing a deep, savage wound across the man’s right arm before he managed to flee.
“The attack took place at a busy station in front of horrified onlookers,” revealed British Transport Police Detective Constable Christopher May. “Just seconds before, a group of schoolchildren had been escorted into the station by their teachers.”
Rapid Police Response Brings Suspect Down
Thanks to quick-thinking members of the public, Sussex Police were on the scene and arrested McDonagh almost immediately. The victim was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery and faces a tough recovery from both physical and emotional scars.
DC May added: “McDonagh showed absolutely no regard for the public or the victim. Our officers acted swiftly, charging and remanding him within 24 hours. This incident shocked the community, and I’m glad to see he has pleaded guilty.”
Sentencing To Follow in February
Jason McDonagh is set to be sentenced on 27 February 2026. He remains behind bars as the court prepares to decide just how harsh his punishment will be for this brutal attack.
