Teen Hurt in Shocking Pole Attack in Lambeth

Police rushed to Leigham Court Road, SW16, at 3.23pm on Wednesday after reports of a man attacking people with a pole.

Officers, joined by paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS), found a 13-year-old boy with a head injury. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Suspect Arrested Near Scene

A 35-year-old man was quickly arrested nearby on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody as police continue their investigation.

Superintendent Ian Howells, the Neighbourhood Lead for Lambeth and Southwark, said:

“This was a shocking incident and has caused alarm and distress among the local community.”

“We are supporting the family of the boy who was injured and have officers speaking with residents and pupils from the nearby school who witnessed the attack.”

“This was an isolated and contained incident. A man has been arrested and a thorough investigation is underway.”

“We’re working closely with the school, local council, and community partners to ensure the right support is given.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. Contact them via 101 quoting reference CAD4356/25Nov.

The crime scene on Leigham Court Road has since been closed.
