Wirral Man Jailed for Raping Women While They Slept

Alan Pickering, 40, from Wirral, has been slammed with a 15-year prison term plus four years on extended licence. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced him on Tuesday, November 28, after he was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting two women as they slept.

Multiple Offences Spanning 16 Years

Pickering was convicted of five counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault by penetration. These horrific crimes occurred between January 2004 and July 2020 in Chester and Wirral. Both victims woke to find Pickering attacking them despite their protests.

Brave Victims Expose Sick Predator

The abuse came to light after a 2020 social services report to Cheshire West and Chester was passed to Cheshire Police. Detective Constable Peel praised the victims’ courage under pressure. “Testifying was extremely tough,” he said, “but their bravery exposed Pickering’s lies and secured justice.”

Lifetime Sex Offender Registration & Restraining Orders

Pickering must sign the sex offenders register for life and faces indefinite restraining orders protecting his victims. Det Con Peel urged other sexual offence victims to come forward. He promised full support and confidentiality, saying, “No one should suffer in silence or feel ashamed.”
