Man Armed with Axe and Knife Launches Brutal Caravan Attack in Manchester
A violent brawl inside a Greater Manchester caravan ended with a man named O’Dea arrested and convicted for a savage assault. The attacker stormed the caravan wielding an axe and knife over a money dispute, threatening to bite off the victim’s ear if the debt wasn’t settled.
The chaos escalated when O’Dea slashed the victim’s arm with a knife during the terrifying attack.
Victim Escapes With Serious Injuries
Despite the brutal beating, the victim managed to flee the caravan. Passersby found him injured in the street and quickly called the police. Emergency services rushed the victim to hospital for urgent treatment.
Police Condemn Knife Crime in Strongest Terms
Detective Constable Chauhan of Greater Manchester Police’s Rochdale CID slammed the assault as “terrifying and horrific” that “could have cost the victim his life.” He praised the court’s sentence, saying it underlines the force’s zero-tolerance stance on violence and knife crime in the region.
“Anyone who carries weapons or seeks to harm others will face justice,” DC Chauhan warned. “We will use every power available to protect victims and bring offenders to court.”
Cain Hopkins, 30, also charged in connection to the case, was cleared of all charges in a July 2024 trial.
Public Urged to Help Tackle Knife Crime
Authorities are calling on the public to help stamp out knife crime. Anyone spotting individuals carrying knives should report immediately to Greater Manchester Police via gmp.police.uk or by calling 101. In an emergency, dial 999.
