Wembley Knife Horror: Itesh Ira Jailed for Life Over Brutal Attack

Life Sentence for Brutal Knife Assault

Itesh Ira, 35, of Belmont Avenue, Wembley, has been slapped with a life sentence and must serve at least 16 years and 9 months for a vicious knife attack on a woman on September 30, 2022. The Old Bailey handed down the verdict after relentless detective work by the Met Police’s Public Protection Unit.

Attack Caught on CCTV – Victim Left Fighting for Life

CCTV showed Ira, who knew the victim personally, launching a savage knife assault. He stabbed her multiple times in the face, neck, and body, and then stomped on her head until a brave bystander intervened. A bloodied, broken knife was found at the scene. Officers arrived to find the victim collapsed on the pavement with horrific injuries, including facial fractures, eight deep cuts, and serious head wounds.

Manhunt Ends with Ira’s Surrender

After a swift police manhunt, Ira handed himself in at Wembley Police Station. Officers noticed fresh injuries and blood stains on him. Despite overwhelming evidence and his initial guilty plea for attempted murder and possession of a weapon, Ira later tried to withdraw his admission. The court wasn’t having it.

Detective Sergeant Mitesh Mulji slammed the “senseless act of violence” and praised the victim’s brave stand in court. “This attack was intended to kill,” he said. The Met remains committed to cracking down on violence against women.

Police Urge Domestic Abuse Victims to Speak Out

The Metropolitan Police continue to urge victims of domestic abuse to come forward. Support is available via the police or the independent charity Crimestoppers, where victims can report crimes anonymously.

This chilling case serves as a stark warning: violence against women will not be tolerated, and offenders will face the full force of the law.
