Edinburgh Man Jailed for Rape
Christopher Pringle, 43, has been handed a seven-year prison sentence for raping a woman in Edinburgh in August 2020. The High Court delivered the sentence on May 12, 2023. On July 7, he appeared again at the court and was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
Detective Chief Inspector George Calder slammed Pringle’s “abhorrent behaviour” and vowed he would face justice. He praised the victim’s bravery for coming forward and urged others to do the same. “It is never too late to report sexual crimes,” DCI Calder said, reassuring victims they will receive full support and thorough investigations.
Specialist Unit Drives Justice
The Divisional Rape Investigation Unit, a specialist team, worked tirelessly to bring this case to a close. Their mission: aggressively pursue offenders while offering support to victims and their families.
Strong Message to Sexual Offenders
Pringle’s sentencing highlights law enforcement’s determination to hold sexual offenders accountable. The message is clear — sexual violence will not be tolerated, and victims will be backed every step of the way through the legal process.
