Man Convicted of Manslaughter After Christmas Day Stabbing
Adam Jenkins has been remanded in custody after fatally stabbing his sister’s boyfriend during a late-night Christmas Day row. The 36-year-old was found guilty of manslaughter following a four-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court.
Fatal Knife Attack Caught on CCTV
The victim, 39-year-old Simon Birch, was stabbed once outside Jenkins’ home in Newbottle, Sunderland Road. CCTV footage captured the deadly moment as horrified family members looked on. Paramedics fought to save Simon but he died at the scene from a fatal neck wound.
Justice for Simon and a Harsh Warning on Knife Crime
After the trial, Jenkins was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter. He remains in custody awaiting sentencing.
“This tragic case shows the irreversible consequences of carrying a knife,” said Detective Superintendent Jane Fairlamb of Northumbria Police. “What should have been a time of celebration turned into devastation for Simon’s family.”
“To anyone who carries a weapon, please think again — you risk ruining more than one life forever.”
