Matt Lucas waves goodbye to Bake Off after three seasons
Matt Lucas quits Bake Off to focus on other gigs
“Farewell Bake Off!” Matt Lucas announced, calling his time on the show a “fantastic experience.” But the comedian revealed he simply can’t juggle presenting both Fantasy Football League and Bake Off alongside his other projects.
“After three series and 51 episodes, I am cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else,” Matt said. He thanked everyone involved, including the bakers, the crew, Paul Hollywood, Dame Prue Leith, Noel Fielding, and the production team.
Star-studded judging panel and host changes
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith continued their role as judges, while Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas hosted the show for the last three series. Originally, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins fronted the first seven series. When the show switched from BBC to Channel 4, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig took over presenting duties from series eight to ten, with Matt replacing Sandi from series eleven onwards.
Who’s next to step into Matt’s shoes?
The question now: who will take over from Matt Lucas? No announcements have been made yet. Matt signed off warmly, saying, “I wish whoever takes over the best of luck, and I can’t wait to watch the next series without knowing who won! Matt xxx.”
