Predator Locked Up for 16 Years After Brave Victim Speaks Out
George Payne-Woodham, 21, from Woodham, has been slammed with a 16-year prison sentence following a harrowing child sex abuse case. The former Gillingham resident was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court of multiple horrific offences against a young victim who finally found the courage to come forward.
Swift Arrest After Victim’s Shocking Disclosure
On 26 September 2024, a child confided in a school worker about ongoing sexual abuse. Kent Police acted fast, arresting Payne-Woodham the very same day. Within 48 hours, he was charged and thrown into the legal spotlight.
Convicted on All Counts: Rape, Sexual Assault and More
Despite pleading not guilty, Payne-Woodham was unanimously found guilty by a jury on all counts. Charges included child rape, inciting a child to sexual activity, and sexual assault.
Harsh Sentence & Lifetime Control Orders
Judge handed Payne-Woodham a 16-year jail term on 12 September 2025. He must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before parole. Once released, he faces four more years on licence under an extended sentence. But that’s not all — he’ll also live under indefinite sex offender notification and a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, ensuring he stays under close supervision.
“Payne-Woodham is an abhorrent criminal who subjected a young victim to appalling sexual abuse on numerous occasions. I’m pleased he has received a lengthy sentence and that restrictions are in place to prevent further innocent children from becoming victims,” said Detective Constable Conor Middleton. “I must praise the courage of the young victim in this case, whose disclosure to a trusted adult meant that we were able to investigate and bring to justice a dangerous sexual predator.”
