Bury Drug Dealer Jailed Over Three Years
Zaigham Ahmad, a key player in an organised crime gang from Bury, has been locked up for 42 months for drug supply offences. The 42-year-old from Walmersley Road was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Court on 12 January 2024.
Operation Revoke Nets Major Drug Bust
Police caught Ahmad on 9 October 2023 during Operation Revoke, aiming to crack down on serious crime across Greater Manchester. Officers arrested him over his involvement in supplying class A and B drugs – specifically cocaine and cannabis.
During the arrest, Ahmad’s iPhone was seized. Downloads from the device revealed extensive messages showing his deep involvement in drug distribution networks.
Detectives Praise Quick Police Action
“This is a significant result, putting a prominent individual behind bars and off the streets of Bury,” said Detective Sergeant Craig Murray from GMP’s Programme Challenger Unit.
“Ahmad was distributing large quantities of drugs across Greater Manchester. Our team used proactive policing – tracking his movements, identifying his vehicle, and moving fast to arrest him.”
“Messages found on his phone confirmed his key role in organised drug supply. Tackling people like Ahmad is vital to disrupting serious criminality.”
Police Urge Public to Help Fight Crime
Operation Revoke is a joint effort by Bury police, the local council, and partner agencies targeting serious crimes and protecting vulnerable communities.
Programme Challenger tackles everything from county lines and modern slavery to economic crime and firearms offenses.
