Met Police Officer Charged with Serious Sexual Offences
Probationary PC Faces Rape Charges
A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been hit with serious sexual offence charges, Scotland Yard confirmed today. PC Santos Rodriguez, 22, a probationary recruit with the West Area Command Unit, was charged on Tuesday, 22 July with rape and three counts of sexual assault by penetration.
The alleged offences date back to 2025 and involve a single female victim.
Suspended and Arrested
Rodriguez was arrested on 12 March and immediately suspended from duty. Police say the alleged crimes occurred while the officer was off duty.
Court Date Set
The young officer is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27 August. The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the charges. The case will progress to Crown Court for trial.
Met Police Launches Internal Probe
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is investigating the matter alongside the criminal case.
“We recognise the seriousness of these charges. PC Rodriguez has been suspended since his arrest and the matter has been referred to the Directorate of Professional Standards,” a Met Police spokesperson said.
