Drug Dealer Behind Bars After Flouting Suspended Sentence
A 20-year-old man from Birmingham has been locked up for over four years after supplying crack cocaine in Tamworth — despite already being handed a suspended sentence for similar offences.
Mohammed Hassan Caught in Crack Cocaine Deal
Mohammed Hassan, of Bromford Road, pleaded guilty at Stafford Crown Court to supplying crack cocaine and possession of criminal property, including £135 in cash. The offences took place during a transaction on 15 October in Maitland, Glascote.
Police found a small rock of crack, cannabis, cash, and phones when they detained Hassan at a Maitland address.
Defying Suspended Sentence, Hassan Back in Court
Hassan had already been handed a two-year sentence, suspended for 18 months, in September. That was after admitting possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine in Tamworth back in April.
But he carried on dealing, ignoring the court’s warning. Stafford Crown Court threw the book at him on 13 November, sentencing him to four years and six months behind bars.
Police Strike Hard On Drug Dealers
“Hassan had received a suspended sentence and continued to offend, dealing drugs in Tamworth,” said Detective Inspector Tim Boulton, Staffordshire Police. “I hope this is a clear message that we will target those who think they can deal drugs and cause misery in our communities.
“We will continue to work hard, gather intelligence and bring offenders before the courts.”
