Knife Crime Crackdown: Lancashire Police Strike Hard in Op Sceptre

From 9th to 15th November, Lancashire police launched Operation Sceptre — a no-nonsense national week of action targeting knife crime. Officers hit schools, streets, and social media with one clear message: knives and the law.

38 Sweeps, 20 Arrests, 10 Knives Off the Streets

Neighbourhood officers carried out 38 weapon sweeps in public spots across Lancashire. The result? 20 knife-related arrests and 10 knives seized. Police also tracked down 21 individuals who’d bought knives online, reminding them that carrying blades is illegal without a good reason.

Top Brass Warn: Carry a Knife, Face Prison

“This week of intensification adds to our focus on knife crime and we are pleased that a significant number of knives are now safely off Lancashire streets,” said Chief Inspector Steve Anderton.

“Carrying a knife without a reasonable purpose is illegal and comes with serious consequences, including prison time. The vast majority of people don’t carry knives – if you do, use this time to rethink for your own sake and your community’s.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Vows to Keep Streets Safe

“No-one should live in fear of knives in their community,” said Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw. “I fully back our officers’ relentless efforts to remove dangerous knives and those who carry them from our streets.

“Tackling violent crime is key, but it takes teamwork. Residents’ safety remains my top priority.”
