Wayne Couzens Charged With Murder and Kidnapping Over Sarah Everard Death

Rosemary Ainslie, Head of Special Crime at the CPS, confirmed Wayne Couzens has been charged with murder and kidnapping following the death of Sarah Everard. The charges come after the Metropolitan Police referred evidence to the CPS.

Couzens is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 13 March, for his first hearing.

Ainslie stressed the CPS’s role: “We don’t decide guilt, but make fair, independent, and objective decisions on whether charges should go ahead.”

“Criminal proceedings are now active and nothing should be published that could jeopardise the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”
