Murder probe launched after woman found dead near Henley-on-Thames club

Woman found dead at riverside club

Emergency services swooped on Phyllis Court Drive at around 7:50am on Friday after reports of a death. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene near a private members’ club in Henley-on-Thames.

Police launched a murder investigation immediately, scrambling forensic teams who are now combing the River Thames area for clues. The riverside club — which has a hotel, fitness centre and clubhouse — is shut until further notice as officers continue their work.

44-year-old man held in custody

A 44-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody as detectives chip away at the early stages of the investigation. No other suspects are currently being sought.

Detective Inspector Rob Underhill reassured the public: “While residents will see increased police activity, there is no wider risk to the public.”

Police appeal for witnesses

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. Formal ID has not yet been confirmed, and the woman’s name remains withheld.
