A brutal showdown erupted behind Farm Foods near Clifton Street, Fratton, Portsmouth, on Wednesday afternoon. Around 1.30pm, chaos broke out when cops tried to stop a man – sparking a violent scuffle that left an officer writhing on the ground in agony.
Shocking Scene as Police Swarm the Area
Video footage shared online shows the injured officer screaming in pain, lying just feet away from the detained suspect. About 30 officers flooded the scene to bring the situation under control.
Man Held Over Assault on Emergency Worker
Hampshire Police confirmed a 45-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.
“An officer was reportedly assaulted and suffered an ankle injury requiring hospital treatment.”
The injured officer’s current condition has not been revealed. Police also seized a white van during the investigation, which remains ongoing.
