A ceramic plaque near the Miners’ Wheel memorial in the village Market Place has been mysteriously stolen. The removal happened between 6.30pm and 9pm on Monday, 16 May.

Police Launch Probe Into Theft

Officers are investigating whether the theft was a criminal act. They have released a photo of the missing plaque and are urgently appealing for information.

Context: Remembering PCSO Julia James

The plaque was placed near the memorial in memory of PCSO Julia James, who was tragically murdered while walking her dog near Aylesham in April 2021. Callum Wheeler was recently found guilty of her murder.

Community and Police Unite

Dover District Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Carter, said: “Local officers remain in the area as part of their ongoing work with the community. I would like to thank residents for their continued support and encourage anyone with information about the plaque to get in touch with us.”
