Families Informed and Supported
The families of those involved have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers during this heart-breaking time.
Investigation Underway with Expert Support
West Area Basic Command Unit is leading the probe, working closely with fire experts and the Coroner. Post-mortem examinations and formal ID will happen soon.
Detective Chief Inspector Garth Hall said: “Firstly, my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible incident. The deaths of so many people, including children, is simply heart-breaking.
“Our investigation will be thorough. The scene was initially too dangerous to enter until the walls were shored up and the roof removed.
“We have now sadly confirmed the death of a sixth victim. Thanks to the London Fire Brigade whose expertise has been crucial in understanding what happened that dreadful night.
“These deaths remain unexplained. We’re working closely with the Coroner and urge the public to be patient as we follow the evidence wherever it leads. Any changes to the inquiry will be shared immediately.
“We’re appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage from that night to come forward. No detail is too small.”
