Luxury Loot Snatched from Road Rage Suspect in Kent
Kent Police have seized luxury watches and designer goods from a road rage suspect caught up in a major criminal probe. The haul includes a flashy Rolex Yacht-Master and a stash of expensive clothes, shoes, and handbags suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Traffic Tussle Sparks Police Action
The drama unfolded after a collision between a tipper van and a car in Chatham Hill, Chatham, around 5.25pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The van’s two occupants, aged 28 and 37 from Whitstable and Rochester, reportedly turned aggressive and tried to strong-arm the other driver into sending £1,000 via a banking app.
Both men were swiftly arrested by the Medway Local Policing Team on suspicion of attempted robbery and cannabis possession. Though later released pending inquiries, the younger man was immediately recalled to prison for breaching a licence related to a separate offence.
Outstanding Confiscation Order Uncovered
Crucially, the 28-year-old was found to have an unpaid confiscation order totaling a hefty £76,481 under the Proceeds of Crime Act. A search of his home turned up the luxury goods, believed to be bought with dirty money.
Financial investigators from Kent and Essex’s Serious Crime Directorate then obtained a warrant at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 17. The warrant allows Kent Police to keep the seized items for one whole year while they dig deeper into the suspect’s finances.
