Terrorist Abdallah Denied Parole After Damning Board Review

The Parole Board has slammed the door shut on Abdalraouf Abdallah, a convicted terrorist, refusing his release after a thorough case review. The 31-year-old is serving a 9 year and 6 month extended sentence for terrorism offences dating back to 2014.

Recall Followed Threats and Misconduct

Abdallah was initially freed in November 2020 but was swiftly recalled in January 2021 amid allegations of threats and bad behaviour. The Parole Board grilled his case over four days between April and July 2024, ultimately ruling he stays behind bars.

Key Reasons Parole Was Denied

  1. Panel judged Abdallah a high risk of serious harm to the public, children, and staff.
  2. Psych reports flagged moderate engagement with extremist views and intent to reoffend.
  3. Board unconvinced Abdallah has turned away from radicalisation or influence on others.
  4. His refusal to admit past extremist beliefs raised doubts about his risk awareness.
  5. Proposed release plans were deemed inadequate to keep communities safe.

Notorious Radicaliser to Serve Full Sentence

The decision came after evidence was scrutinised from probation officers, psychologists, and Abdallah himself. Though he has taken part in rehab programmes, the board remained sceptical.

Crucially, the Manchester Arena Public Inquiry revealed Abdallah played a significant role in radicalising the bomber — though he did not physically take part in the attack.

Abdallah will remain locked up until his sentence ends automatically in November 2024, with no further parole review.
