Nottinghamshire Police Shut Down Drug Den in Sutton-in-Ashfield
After a year of complaints and criminal activity, Nottinghamshire Police and Ashfield District Council have finally clamped down on a notorious property on Warnadene Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Zombie Knives and Drugs Found Amid Growing Crime Spree
Over the past 12 months, officers received numerous reports of drug dealing and violence linked to the property. Police raids uncovered zombie knives, Class A and B drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
On Friday, Mansfield Magistrates granted a closure order shutting the property for three months. No one, including residents, can enter the premises during this period. Breaking the order could mean a hefty fine or jail time.
Police and Council Say Enough is Enough
Inspector Jon Hewitt, Ashfield district commander, said: “This property had become a magnet for violence and drug-related crime. Calls from worried locals were coming in constantly. It was an intolerable situation harming the community.”
“Together with the council, we’ve secured closure orders on other trouble hotspots and will keep fighting to protect residents. Nothing matters more than their safety.”
Council Officials Pledge Ongoing Crackdown
Councillor Helen-Ann Smith, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, added: “Reports from locals led to swift action from police and council. Our Community Safety Partnership has secured over £1.3 million to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour across Ashfield.”
Antonio Taylor, Community Safety Manager at Ashfield Council, said: “This closure is a huge win for residents who deserve peace, especially through the festive period.”
Nottinghamshire Police have already shut two other drug-ridden properties on Collins Avenue this summer. The no-nonsense crackdown shows no signs of slowing down.
