Man Attacked With Metal Pole While Handing Out Election Leaflets in Tower Hamlets

Police in Tower Hamlets are hunting a masked attacker after a man was battered in Stepney. The victim, in his 30s, was handing out leaflets ahead of the local elections when disaster struck.

Attack Strikes Without Warning

It happened at around 5:30pm on Friday, 6 April, inside Reardon House on Reardon Street, E1. The victim was on the third floor when the suspect suddenly jumped him. Eyewitnesses say the assailant struck the man over the head with what is believed to be a metal pole.

Victim Hospitalised But Survives

The man suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to hospital. He received ten stitches before being discharged. Thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening.

Suspect Description and Police Appeal

The attacker is described as a tall man, around 6ft, dressed in dark clothes and wearing a black mask. Police are urging anyone who was near Reardon House at the time to come forward.

Acting Detective Sergeant Tomasz Patzer of Tower Hamlets CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Reardon House around 5:30pm on Friday to speak to us. Your information could be vital in catching this dangerous individual.”
