Man Busted in Nottingham Shoplifting Spree Crackdown
Nottingham cops have arrested a 39-year-old man in Clifton after a string of business raids rocked the area. The suspect is linked to multiple thefts between March 11 and April 23, mainly hitting shops in Clifton and The Meadows.
Raids and Car Thefts Under Investigation
He’s also under the microscope for a series of vehicle break-ins in Clifton from April 4 to 16. Police say the man used a stolen bank card fraudulently, taken from a car in Wilford.
Neighbourhood Boss Pledges Tough Action
Inspector Steve Dalby, new head of Nottingham South neighbourhood policing, slammed the crime spree. He said:
“Some think shoplifting is victimless. It isn’t. It hits businesses, their staff, and the whole community hard — financially and emotionally.”
Dalby vowed crackdowns would ramp up, adding:
“We’ll use every tool to stop repeat shoplifters targeting our town centres.”
Days of Action and Tougher Orders on the Way
Police are planning dedicated days of action to curb retail and vehicle crime. They’re also eyeing criminal behaviour orders to ban persistent offenders from shops and defined areas.
Dalby made it clear:
“Our local businesses deserve better. Thieves beware — we will catch you and make you answer for your crimes.”
