Man Arrested After Police Cars Torched at Harwich Station

Blaze Strikes Police Vehicles

Two police cars were set on fire outside Harwich Police Station at around 10:55am on Tuesday, 21 April. The swift blaze caused alarm but was quickly brought under control.

Suspect Caught and Charged

A 62-year-old man from Harwich was arrested shortly after the fire. He now faces serious charges including arson, criminal damage, and racially aggravated abuse. The suspect appeared at chelmsford/" title="Chelmsford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 April, and was remanded in custody.

Next Court Date Set

He will next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 21 May as the investigation continues.
