Kent Police Dog Boris Bids Farewell After Heroic Five-Year Career

Kent Police is saying goodbye to one of its fiercest crimefighters as Police Dog Boris hangs up his harness after five years of top service. Known across Kent for his razor-sharp tracking skills and fearless nature, Boris has become a nightmare for criminals and a beloved partner for officers.

Chasing Down Crooks and Saving the Day

  • Boris tracked and helped catch a violent robbery and kidnap suspect hiding in thick bushes in Sittingbourne.
  • He chased down a man in Sheerness accused of indecent exposure to two women, keeping him pinned until police arrived.
  • In Medway, Boris found a discarded mobile phone linked to a van theft, cracking a key piece of evidence.

Even in his final days on duty, Boris didn’t hold back. Just ten days before retirement, he helped detain three suspects. One even attacked Boris, leaving him with facial injuries. But the brave dog held on tight until backup arrived, making sure the offender was jailed.

Praised by Handler and Police Team

PC Nathan Southern, who partnered with Boris for the last two years, hailed him as an “exceptional public servant.” He said:

“Many villains who tried to outrun Boris found out the hard way that he never gives up. He chases them down relentlessly until they surrender.”

“He’ll now enjoy a well-deserved retirement with a loving family, reflecting on his many successes.”

Boris’ Legacy Lives On

Kent Police paid tribute to Boris’s dedication and made it clear that while he’s retiring, the fight against crime will go on.

“Criminals shouldn’t get too comfortable. The next generation of police dogs is ready to take up the mantle and keep Kent safe,” added PC Southern.

Now enjoying peace and quiet with his new family, Police Dog Boris leaves behind a powerful legacy – proof of the vital role police dogs play in cracking cases and protecting communities across the UK.
