Man Charged After Grotesque Exposure in Camberwell
Jerome Perrins Busted Over Shocking Incident
Police have charged Jerome Perrins, 37, from Camberwell Road SE5, after he exposed himself to a woman in a brazen attack last January.
Perrins was arrested in March and later released under investigation. In December, he was formally charged with indecent exposure by postal requisition.
He’s set to appear at Camberwell 1 Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 7 January 2020.
Victim’s Brave Response in Late Evening Horror
The shocking episode unfolded at about 8.45pm on Monday, 28 January. A 19-year-old woman was approached by Perrins while walking along Camberwell Road.
He tried to strike up a conversation, but the young woman soon realised she was being followed as she moved along Burgess Park and onto Addington Square.
At the junction with Rust Square, Perrins brazenly exposed himself.
Woman Fights Back and Calls Police
“She immediately threw water over the man and hurried away,” police said.
The woman then contacted police, kicking off an investigation that led to Perrins’ arrest and charge.
Camberwell locals can breathe a little easier knowing justice is moving forward in this case.
