Manchester Cop Sacked for Brutal Glass Attack
Police Constable Niki Minev of Manchester has been booted from the British Transport Police after a shocking assault. The misconduct hearing on December 11, 2023, slammed him for smashing a glass into a victim’s face — an off-duty brawl from October 2022 that left serious injuries.
Off-Duty Assault Lands PC Minev in Court
On October 8, 2022, Minev supposedly struck a person with a glass while off duty, causing grievous bodily harm. He later pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court. Sentencing is set for January 15, 2024.
Chief Constable Delivers Swift Justice
Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi chaired the public hearing at BTP HQ, ruling Minev’s actions as gross misconduct. She didn’t mince words:
“Members of the public rightly expect police officers, both on and off duty, to protect them from violent and disorderly behaviour. PC Minev did the opposite. His violent actions caused serious and lasting injury to his victim and have harmed public confidence in policing. There is no place in BTP for someone like that. I had no hesitation in dismissing him without notice.”
British Transport Police Draw the Line
Minev’s expulsion shows BTP’s zero tolerance for bad behaviour by its officers. The force reaffirmed its promise to uphold high standards and maintain public trust with total transparency and accountability.
