Cop Fired Without Warning After Sending Lewd Texts to Member of Public
PC Farouk Abubakar Booted for Gross Misconduct
Police Constable Farouk Abubakar has been sacked without notice following shocking misconduct revelations. Attached to the South West Command Unit, Abubakar’s fate was sealed at a hearing that wrapped up on Thursday, 15 October.
Sexual Messages Sent from Personal Phone
On 21 June 2017, while on duty at Kingston Police Station’s front office, PC Abubakar met a member of the public who sought advice. Once she left, he continued contacting her via his own personal phone, bombarding her with sexualised messages and even sending an inappropriate photo.
Multiple Breaches of Professional Standards
His actions smashed several professional standards, including:
- Honesty and integrity
- Authority, respect and courtesy
- Orders and instructions
- Discreditable conduct
The misconduct panel confirmed these breaches amounted to gross misconduct. However, allegations relating to equality and diversity were dismissed as not proven.
No Second Chances – Immediate Dismissal
With the evidence stacked against him, PC Abubakar was shown the door without any notice. His dismissal sends a clear message: police officers who break the public’s trust won’t get off lightly.
