Toddler Dies After Mysterious Drowning at Local Reserve
Tragedy struck late Sunday evening when emergency services rushed to a reserve following reports of a child in the water. Officers arrived at 8.21pm alongside ambulance and fire crews, who pulled the two-year-old boy from the water. Police Probe Into How Toddler Ended Up in Water
Detective Inspector Matt Gillooly is leading the investigation and urged anyone around the scene between 7.45pm and 8.30pm to come forward. “This is a very sad case, and our thoughts remain with the child’s family at this time,” he said.
“We are still trying to establish exactly how this boy came to be in the water and are keeping an open mind regarding the circumstances.”
“As part of our investigation, we want to speak to everyone who was at the reserve between 7.45pm and 8.30pm.”
“We know there was a female dog walker with a small dog in the area at this time. Was this you?”
Key Witnesses and Arrest Made
An 18-year-old man from Southampton, known to the boy, was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released on bail until June 27.
