Carol Curtis Horrified by BMW After Devastating Accident
Carol Curtis, 63, is now wheelchair-bound and terrified of BMW cars after a horrific crash left her pinned against a wall. The pensioner was chatting with her 82-year-old husband on the pavement in South Parade, Southsea, on April 29, 2019, when disaster struck.
A black BMW mounted the pavement, narrowly missing her husband before smashing into Carol. The car pinned her against a garden wall, shattering a headlamp and slicing her left leg with glass fragments.

Carol described the chaos in a statement read at Winchester Crown Court: “There was suddenly a loud bang — the sound of cars crashing. I turned and stepped aside, but the black BMW was hurtling straight at me. It hit parked vehicles, mounted the pavement, and pinned me against the garden wall.”

Driver and Passenger Flee Scene as Carol’s Life Changes Forever

- Spencer Saunders, 24, cleared by jury over driving alleged at the crash time
Gleeson, who has 15 convictions for 31 offences, took the BMW without permission but denies he was driving during the crash. Saunders, tried last month, denied involvement and was acquitted.
Both men fled — Saunders returned visibly shaken, but Gleeson escaped, took drugs, and ended up in hospital needing resuscitation.
Gleeson Expresses Remorse for Devastating Crash
In court, Gleeson showed remorse, telling the dock he cannot forget the sight of Carol pinned against the wall and her screams of pain.
Meanwhile, Carol remains unable to care for her husband as she needs constant support, haunted by the BMW that ruined her life.
