Man Throws Roof Tiles at Police in Bizarre Portsmouth Stand-Off

A Portsmouth man caused chaos this weekend, lobbing roof tiles at police officers during a wild five-hour standoff.

Roof Tile Barrage from the Rooftops

Ben McCreadie, 26, of New Road, Portsmouth, climbed atop terraced houses on Widley Road early Sunday morning and began hurling roof tiles at groups of officers below.

Damage and Danger

The flying tiles smashed vehicles and battered residents’ roofs, sparking panic in the neighbourhood. Police and firefighters spent hours trying to coax McCreadie down safely.

Peace Restored After Dramatic Rescue

Eventually, using ladders and an aerial platform, emergency crews helped McCreadie climb down. He appeared in court this morning and pleaded guilty to the charges.

McCreadie has been bailed and now faces sentencing later this month.
