Ex-Teacher Jailed for 12 Years After Horrific Abuse of Schoolgirls
A former teacher who preyed on schoolgirls at Warblington School in Havant has been locked up for 12 years. Sean Jack Aldridge, 37, was found guilty of 25 counts of historic sexual offences including sexual activity with a child and abusing his position of trust. His sickening crimes happened between 2007 and 2013.
Convicted Over Abuse of Four Victims
The vile offences involved four pupils at the school. After a tense three-week trial at Portsmouth Crown Court, Aldridge was convicted but the jury couldn’t reach verdicts on two additional charges.
Living in Southsea, Aldridge has now been sentenced to 12 years in prison and put on the sex offenders register.
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
“Children attend school expecting to be safe,” said Detective Inspector Toby Elcock. “Aldridge was trusted to protect them but instead groomed and abused them.”
“He tried to keep his victims silent, and for years, he succeeded. The girls were so terrified that when police first spoke to two victims in 2010 and 2012, they couldn’t speak out.”
“But now those brave women have broken their silence. Their courage led to these guilty verdicts.”
Operation Marmion Cracks Historic Abuse Cases
DI Elcock added the investigation was a tough one for Operation Marmion, a specialist unit dealing with historic child sexual abuse.
“We hope this verdict brings closure for the victims and encourages others suffering in silence to come forward. The police are here to listen and support,” he said.
