Prolific Gravesend Thief Locked Up for 42 Weeks
Nrender Biriah, a repeat offender, has been slammed with a 42-week jail sentence after admitting to multiple thefts and breaching a criminal behaviour order in Gravesend.
Spirit Heist and Groceries Stolen
On Monday 22 January 2024, Biriah attempted to nick bottles of spirits worth over £140 from Asda on Thames Way. Just days earlier, he swiped groceries and other goods valued at around £220 from Iceland in Overcliffe.
Swift Justice at Magistrates’ Court
Biriah appeared at 123 Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He changed his plea to guilty on all charges at a follow-up hearing on 2 February and was promptly sentenced to 42 weeks behind bars.
Police Condemn Persistent Criminal
“This prolific thief has shown a complete disregard for the criminal justice system by breaching a criminal behaviour order imposed on him by the courts multiple times,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Ellingham.
“He persistently targets businesses in Gravesend, but local officers act fast when shop workers report crimes. If he keeps offending after he’s released, it’s only a matter of time before he’s back behind bars.”
