Man Jailed for Sick Child Sex Offences in Swale
A 23-year-old has been locked up after being found guilty of vile sexual crimes against a child in Swale. Dean Luckhurst, from Ramsgate, was sentenced to four years behind bars followed by four years on extended licence at Maidstone Crown Court on Christmas Eve, 2019.
Groomed Girl on Social Media
Luckhurst denied inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between February and March 2018 but was convicted after a trial. The court heard how in November 2018 he contacted a girl via social media, starting a sexual conversation and even sending her an indecent photo of himself.
Disturbing Meeting at Teynham Station
In February 2019, Luckhurst arranged to meet the victim at Teynham Railway Station. He led her to a secluded woodland nearby, gave her cannabis, and had sexual intercourse with her.
Continued Abuse Until Police Intervene
He kept sending sexual messages, hoping to keep the relationship going until the abuse was reported to Kent Police in March 2019. Luckhurst was arrested in Ramsgate on 5 April 2019.
Police Constable Jenny Boyden slammed the crimes as “abhorrent” and praised the victim’s courage: “We will always listen and support victims to ensure offenders like Luckhurst face justice.”
Luckhurst will remain on the Sex Offenders Register and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
