Yorkshire’s East Riding rocked as three thugs locked up a man and beat him bloody in a terrifying kidnap plot. Mohammed Hussain, 24, from Sheffield, and Toma Vitkauskaite, 26, from Cottingham, admitted to false imprisonment and assault on day one of their trial. Emilio Romano, 25, from Hull, had already pleaded guilty.

Six Years Behind Bars

All three were slammed with six-year jail terms at Hull Crown Court on Monday, 16 February 2026. The case was delayed early on but resumed to deal with a fourth suspect, Armantas Sauklys, 39, also from Cottingham, who faced charges of false imprisonment, conspiracy to kidnap, and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

Following a week-long trial, the jury cleared Sauklys of all charges on 13 January, and he was freed without further action.

Horrific Attack Uncovered

The nightmare began on 19 June 2025 when police got a tip-off about a violent kidnapping. Officers rushed to the victim’s home and found him with serious injuries, quickly hospitalising him. He fought for life for five days with pneumonia and severe trauma after being held captive and savagely attacked.

The drama started when Vitkauskaite invited the victim over to her Cottingham home. Hours later, when he tried to leave, a gang of men she called over dragged him into a garage pit. There, he endured brutal beatings with weapons, including a hammer, and was held captive overnight for roughly eight hours.

Armed Police Storm the Scene

Armed police swooped on the Eppleworth Road property that evening, arresting seven men and Vitkauskaite. They found stacks of cash, balaclavas, multiple firearms, and weapons stashed around the house.

Digital forensics on Vitkauskaite’s phone uncovered horrific videos showing the scale of the abuse.

Justice Served

Hussain and Romano were locked up immediately after pleading guilty. Vitkauskaite was bailed pending sentencing.

Detective Constable Simon Holmes said: “These individuals subjected a man to a horrific level of violence and trauma in a targeted and premeditated attack that left him fighting for his life. Thankfully, he has now made a full recovery. The weapons found show just how dangerous they were willing to be.”

He added, “We will not tolerate violent crimes like this. Our officers work around the clock to keep communities safe.”
