A fierce fire ripped through a building on Forest Road, Mansfield this afternoon, sparking an urgent response from emergency services.

Firefighters Battle Flames as Evacuations Begin

Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at 3.48pm on 18 March 2023 following reports of a serious blaze. The fire is still burning as teams work to bring it under control.

Neighbours Evacuated, Safety Centre Opens

Chief Inspector Amy Styles-Jones of Nottinghamshire Police confirmed there are no injuries so far. However, nearby streets have been evacuated as a safety precaution.

“Thankfully, there are no reports of any injuries but neighbouring streets have been evacuated as a precaution,” said Styles-Jones.

“The Oak Tree Leisure Centre on Jubilee Way South will open from 7pm as a refuge for those affected by the fire. This incident is likely to continue for some time, so please avoid the area if you can.”

Authorities urge residents and commuters to steer clear of Forest Road and surrounding areas while emergency crews tackle the blaze.
