Couple Jailed for 12 Years After Faking Romance and Knife Threat to Rob Man

A ruthless duo tricked a man into believing he was in a relationship, only to threaten him with a knife and rob his home. Now, they’ve been locked up for a total of 12 years.

Charm and Threats: The Perfect Crime

Hollie Cheeseman, 32, played the part of the loving girlfriend, leading the victim to think they were an item. After a few days of friendship blossoming in Herne Bay, she invited the man, in his 50s, to her flat.

But waiting there was her partner, Jeremy Long, 41, armed with a knife. The pair violently demanded money and valuables from the victim, turning a supposed romance into a nightmare.

Robbery Unfolds at Victim’s Home

  • Cheeseman befriended the victim over six days after a chance encounter.
  • On robbery day, they watched TV together at the victim’s house before she coaxed him to her place.
  • Long threatened him with a knife, demanding cash and forcing a failed £100 withdrawal attempt.
  • The criminals even walked the frightened victim back to his home, still brandishing the weapon.
  • The pair stole a TV, laptop, and games console from the victim’s property.

Caught Red-Handed and Sentenced

Police found Cheeseman and Long in their flat, chilling out and watching the victim’s stolen TV. She denied robbery and false imprisonment but was found guilty at Canterbury Crown Court and handed six years. Long pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, false imprisonment, and possessing an offensive weapon, receiving the same sentence.

“Cheeseman’s manipulative tactics and Long’s knife threats caused the victim a terrifying ordeal,” said Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson. “Justice is served, and these dangerous criminals are off the streets.”
