A brutal abuser who tormented two women from 2020 to 2022 was finally locked up for his crimes. His latest attack happened as recently as May 5 this year.

Horrific Violence Behind Closed Doors

Acting Detective Sergeant Iain Robertson condemned the vile acts. “Domestic violence is a horrific crime. It ruins people psychologically and physically, in what should be their safe haven – their home. The worst part? Perpetrators are often those meant to protect them.”

Hopewell, the convicted brute, launched a vicious, sustained assault on two women. One victim suffered a broken eye socket and a nasty foot cut from shattered glass during one of his violent episodes.

Justice Served at Last

“His actions were shocking,” said Detective Sergeant Robertson. “He deserved to be put behind bars.” He urged victims to come forward, stressing that domestic abuse is a top police priority.

“We want survivors to find the courage to speak up about this often-hidden crime. Let this sentencing send a clear message: We won’t tolerate domestic abuse. We will do everything to protect victims and bring offenders to justice.”

New Project Targets Dangerous Offenders

To tackle domestic violence, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight recently launched Project Foundation, a joint effort with The Hampton Trust.

This initiative aims to identify the most violent abusers in the community and offer pathways to reform their behaviour. The Hampton Trust is a leading UK provider of domestic abuse support and criminal justice services, renowned for helping abuse survivors rebuild their lives.

Help Is Out There

“We know many victims find it hard to approach police,” said Detective Sergeant Robertson. “But organisations like The Hampton Trust offer independent support if you need it.”
