Ryde on Lockdown After Man Found Unconscious with Head Injury
Police sealed off a Ryde street this morning after a man was discovered unconscious on the pavement with a serious head injury. Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 6.30am on Friday.
Man Found Collapsed on Ryde Pavement
The injured man was spotted at the junction of Castle Street and George Street. Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport for urgent care.
Police Investigate Mysterious Head Injury
A cordon remains in place between Nelson Street and George Street while officers work to piece together what happened. Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they do not believe the man was assaulted.
“Officers were called at 6.07am this morning, March 15, to a report of a man lying on the pavement with a head injury,” a spokesperson said. “Following enquiries, we do not believe that the man was assaulted.”
Victim Still in Hospital
The man remains in hospital receiving treatment. Police continue their investigations to establish how he ended up injured on the pavement.
