£25k Warehouse Raid Foiled by Police Helicopter
A gang smashed their way into a warehouse on Island Road, Hersden, causing £25,000 worth of damage on the night of Saturday 5 February 2022. They trashed CCTV cameras, lights, a window, and ripped a huge hole through the wall in a bid to nick copper piping.
Three Thieves Nabbed After Daring Break-In
Kent Police, backed by a National Police Air Service helicopter, quickly tracked down three of the five burglars involved. Marih Ilihca, 39, Costel Coscodaru, 25, and Mihai Florin, 19, all of no fixed address, were arrested and are now behind bars, each handed two years and seven months in jail.
Chopper Tracks Runaway Crooks
The alarm was triggered at 9.40pm by a security guard who spotted intruders on CCTV. By the time officers and the guard arrived, the gang had fled—running and ditching clothes as they went. The helicopter’s aerial support was crucial in tracking and capturing the suspects.
Detective Urges Businesses to Boost Security
“This group of thieves caused substantial damage and could have stolen valuable items if not stopped,” said Detective Constable Rebecca Keeler.
“Thanks to quick police work and the helicopter, these men are now serving prison time. This case highlights the importance of good CCTV and security. I urge businesses to review their security to avoid similar break-ins.”
