Teen Held Over Tilehurst Stabbing Murder
Police raced to Romany Lane, Tilehurst, on Sunday night (31/10) after reports of a stabbing.
Victim Named as 22-Year-Old Reece Heffernan
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Reece Heffernan from Tilehurst. A post-mortem confirmed he died from a stab wound to the chest. Authorities and family are still coming to terms with this tragic loss.
17-Year-Old Charged with Murder
Last night (4/11), a 17-year-old boy from Earley was arrested on suspicion of murder. Today (5/11), he was charged with:
- One count of murder
- Perverting the course of justice
- Possession of a bladed article
He is due in Reading Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (6/11).
Two More Men Charged in Connection
Meanwhile, two men have also been charged. Hamzah Ahmed, 18, of Jubilee Road, Reading, faces a murder charge. Umer Arshad, 23, from Waterloo Road, Wokingham, is charged with perverting the course of justice.
Both men appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court today and will next appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday (8/11).
Others Released Under Investigation
Police have also arrested a 29-year-old and two 19-year-old men from Reading on suspicion of murder. All three have since been released under investigation as the probe continues.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to bring justice for Reece.
