A shocking family tragedy has rocked Shirebrook after a 19-year-old admitted killing his stepfather at their home.
Brutal Stabbing at Valley Road Home
Armed police swarmed a house on Valley Road at 8.45pm on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, following a distress call. They arrested Logan Procter, 19, on suspicion of murder.
The victim, 57-year-old Christopher Owen, was found dead at the scene with multiple stab wounds. In a grim twist, the family’s Jack Russell dog was also discovered stabbed to death.
Teen Charged with Murder and Animal Cruelty
Logan Procter now faces charges for the murder of Mr Owen and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. The animal cruelty charge has since been merged into the main murder case.
Pleading Guilty and Court Dates Set
On 16 January, Procter pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court. He was remanded in custody and must return on 16 March for further hearings.
