Ex-Cop David Carrick Jailed for Life Over Shocking Sex Crimes
David Carrick, 48, was handed a life sentence this February with a minimum of 32 years behind bars. He pleaded guilty to 85 serious offenses, including a staggering 48 counts of rape.
Disturbing Abuse and Depraved Behaviour Exposed
Carrick’s sick actions didn’t stop at rape. He admitted to sexual assaults, false imprisonment, and coercive control. Disturbingly, he locked women in tiny cupboards and even whistled at them like a dog.
All 12 known victims were targeted between 2003 and 2020 while Carrick was still a police officer. Some women met him through dating apps, lured by his initially charming facade before the abuse began.
Ongoing Investigation as More Victims Step Forward
Hertfordshire police, alongside other forces, revealed on Sunday they’re still probing fresh allegations against Carrick. Since his conviction, over ten new victims have come forward, reporting additional assaults or sharing intelligence.
“The team is now investigating these new allegations in collaboration with the CPS,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
Judge Slams Carrick’s ‘Untouchable’ Attitude
Sentencing, Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb described Carrick as “bold and at times relentless,” exploiting victims’ shame and fear to keep his crimes hidden for nearly two decades. She said he inflicted “irreparable destruction” on at least a dozen women.
“You were proven correct for nearly two decades,” the judge told him, “trusting that no victim would overcome her shame and fear to report you.”
