Bloodstain Blunder landed burglar behind bars for over two years!
Burglary foiled by blood evidence
Joseph Clarke, 46, slipped up badly during a 2019 break-in at a Sittingbourne home. The tramp injured his hand breaking in and left a tell-tale blood stain on a kitchen cupboard. Unwittingly, he handed police the crucial clue they needed.
Crime and punishment
The midnight marauder, who has no fixed address, swiped cash and a games console after smashing a rear window. The victims had left for church at 9:30am and returned three hours later to find their house violated.
Detective’s verdict
DNA from the blood proved Clarke’s guilt. At Maidstone Crown Court on July 12, he pleaded guilty to burglary and was locked up for 28 months.
Detective Constable Richard Sears said: “Burglary is a deeply intrusive offence and Joseph Clarke caused the victims a significant amount of distress. His callous decision to cause lots of damage to steal items of relatively low value is unforgivable. I’m pleased justice has been served.”
